WILL JEEP CREATE A HYBRID?

According to this article on green.autoblog.com "Chrysler hasn't made any definite plans to build hybrid-electric powertrains for Jeep, and expressed concerns over the off-road performance and durability of such a powertrain".
Jeep does have non-hybrid models that are very impressive on fuel economy. The Jeep CompassJeep Patriot and the Jeep Grand Cherokee Diesel  all have models that can reach up to 30 MPG hwy, as well as the Jeep Cherokee has efficiency ratings of up to 31 MPG hwy.  It still seems it may be the next logical move to make a Jeep Hybrid to keep up with the competition. According to the article the difficulties they face are building a suitable hybrid that can live up to the Jeep's off road reputation. So the question is..
Would you sacrifice off road capabilities for better fuel economy?
